4 Atlanta firefighters injured in fire truck crash

"It is tough. We're all shaken up a little bit by the event," said Fire Media Hayne Palmer.  "This is not a very common occurrence for us to have a fire engine involved in an accident of this magnitude."

"They were trying to free the driver, trying to get him out. He was stuck up in there; they were trying to get him out. But they got them all out. To see them pulling and cutting to get him out, it seemed like he was alive. I hope he's alive," witness Thonasha Harris said.

Firefighters injured when engine runs off road

The four firefighters were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and all four were conscious while leaving the scene.

All four were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The fire truck is a total loss.

Four firefighters was responding to a structure fire in Atlanta when their firetruck left the roadway and struck a tree head-on. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment and were expected to be released that evening. Their names have not yet been released.
