Authorities in Douglas County are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a student exiting a school bus.

Deputies say the car tried to pass the bus while it was stopped, hit the teen and then took off, passing another school bus as he sped away.
Douglas Co. student injured in hit and run at bus stop
It happened on Belmar Road at Bomar Road on Monday afternoon. A spokesperson for the Douglas County School System tells FOX 5 News that a New Manchester High School was struck by a vehicle after she stepped off the bus.
A bus was stopped and letting children off when a car tried to pass the bus and struck a student. The car then fled the scene. The student's identity and the extent of their injuries were not released. A description of the car is not yet available.
