Woman killed, man injured in boat crash believed to be husband and wife, DNR says

The Times of Gainesville reports that the wreck happened Sunday night in the Chestatee Bay area of the lake off Georgia 369.

Yang Kim, 29, of Buford, was found dead Sunday when rangers discovered a Monterrey boat upside down on a rock cropping near Browns Bridge in the Hall County area of the lake, said Mark McKinnon of the state Department of Natural Resources Monday.

“Upon arrival, [authorities] found a Monterrey boat upside down on a rock outcropping on the Hall County side of the channel,” said DNR public information officer Mark McKinnon in a statement.

29-year-old So Yang Kim, who was pronounced dead at the scene of a boat crash on Lake Lanier near Georgia 369. The accident was reported at around 9:40 p.m. Sunday. The deceased woman's husband, Young Tae Shim, was treated and released from the hospital for injuried he sustained. The crash remains under investigation.
