A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday and a teen charged with DUI and vehicular homicide in the incident, according to authorities.

During a first-appearance hearing in Hall County Magistrate Court Monday, a May 11 preliminary hearing was set for Joshua Saunders, who also is charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Obituary: Landen James Morton

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Gary Wilson will officiate.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.

Early Sunday afternoon, 19-year-old Joshua Saunders attempted to back up in a black 1978 Chevrolet K10 at a residence on the 2400 block of Miller Drive off Old Cornelia Highway in East Hall when a toddler ran behind the vehicle. Saunders fled the scene but was escorted back to the scene by Hall County Sheriff's deputies. The little boy, identified as Landen Morton, was brought Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Saunders was arrested and faces charges of DUI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and vehicular homicide.

His name was Landon Morton not Landon martin.

Hi, Tasia. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I've done some research, and it appears that most news sources and an obituary are now reporting the boy's name as Landen Morton, so I've changed it to that in our post.
