Woman dead after vehicle collides with train

A woman is dead after her vehicle collided with a train in Fulton County late Thursday evening. The crash happened around 11:15 p.m. at the railroad crossing on Vine Street near the intersection with Highway 29 in Palmetto. The woman's dog was in the vehicle at the time of the crash and amazingly survived the experience. Not much is known about what led up to the crash but police tell CBS46 that they believe the woman may have been distracted. The identity of the woman has not been released pending notification of relatives.

There was a dog in the car, however, the animal was not hurt, officials said.  Troopers who were at the scene said that there were no crossing guards at the railroad grade but said that visibility was good.
