No one has been charged in the crash and a state patrol Special Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting in the continuing investigation, Taylor said.

Two Baxley men died and two people were injured Wednesday night when the car they were in was hit head-on by a pickup truck driven by a woman from Baxley. A Chevrolet pickup truck towing a trailer was driving south on Georgia 15 north of Blackshear about 6:30 p.m. when a Ford pickup truck traveled up in its rear. The pickup driver, Lacie Kersey, also of Baxley, maneuvered around the trailer into the northbound lane and collided with a Nissan Maxima head-on, killing the driver, Carlos Martinez Lopez, and front seat passenger, Leonel Maqueda Cruz, and injuring backseat passenger Adrian Vitela of Waycross. Witnesses say Kersey drove around the trailer to avoid colliding with it. Kersey was airlifted to UF Health Jacksonville and Vitela was taken to the Mayo Clinic in Waycross for their injuries. The truck pulling the trailer was not struck.
