Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist with life threatening injuries Sunday night.

Johnson was traveling east on Anderson at a high rate of speed when the Suzuki crashed into the side of a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country minivan traveling south on Jefferson, said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman. Traffic investigators were told Tuesday that Johnson died on Monday.
Around 6:30 p.m., Bennie Johnson was riding a motorcycle when he collided into the side of a minivan on Anderson and Jefferson streets. He was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Officers believe high-speed was a factor in the crash. The incident is still under investigation.
