MAIT investigating wreck on Johnny Mercer Blvd. that kills 1, injures another Posted: Updated: The driver involved in a single-car wreck on Johnny Mercer Boulevard has died from his injuries. The driver, 29-year-old Steven Legerlotz, was traveling west on Johnny Mercer Boulevard, just after 2:30 a.m., with his passenger, Kristina Legerlotz, in the front passenger seat. Legerlotz lost control of his 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, crossing into the median, impacting a tree off the south side of the roadway. Early Sunday morning, the Major Accident Investigation Team of Savannah-Chatham Metro responded to the crash that seriously injured the driver and his passenger. The vehicle flipped onto its roof, and both the driver and passenger were ejected.
