A 68-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a car in Makiki, according to Honolulu police.

A 68-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a car in Makiki, according to Honolulu police.

The incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. on Wilder Avenue near Makiki Street.

Police say the victim was run over by a 72-year-old woman driving a white Ford SUV.

The victim was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, where she later died.

Police do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the accident.

This is Oahu's first traffic fatality of 2014.

The single-vehicle accident happened at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday on the corner of Wilder Avenue and Liholiho Street.

One person was taken to the hospital.

Traffic in the area was reopened shortly before 4 a.m.

An SUV flipped onto its side.

Paramedics took a man to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Nehoa street was closed between Keeaumoku and Makiki street but has since been reopened.

Honolulu police have closed the westbound lanes of North King Street near Gulick Street following a pedestrian accident.

The incident happened just before 6 a.m. Thursday.

According to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, a 71-year-old woman was apparently hit by a garbage truck. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

HPD Lt. Bobby Towne says the woman was walking in a marked crosswalk.

A seven-year-old girl was hospitalized Tuesday after being hit by a car near the intersection of Queen Emma and School Streets.

Honolulu police were notified at 3:07 p.m. Witnesses say she was apparently trying to cross the street when the car hit her and bystanders ran over to help.

Honolulu police are investigating a critical pedestrian accident in Waianae.

The incident happened just before 7 a.m. Monday on Farrington Highway near Mill Street.

According to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, a 36-year-old man was hit by a car and was dragged under the car for a couple of blocks. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

A woman is dead after the car she was in crashed in Windward Oahu Wednesday night.

Honolulu police say at about 6:30 p.m., the car veered off Ahuimanu Road and hit a tree.

"The driver, a male in his 50s, was taken to Queen's in serious condition. The passenger, a female also in her 50s, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where she later expired," an HPD spokesman said. "We're not looking at speed at this point. As far as impairment, we will be investigating that."

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A 24-year-old newlywed who was honeymooning in Hawaii with her husband died after a motor vehicle collision near Turtle Bay on Oahu's North Shore, according to police.

Police officials say the woman was driving a moped in the Haleiwa-bound direction on Kamehameha Highway near the entrance to the resort when she veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck.

"For unknown reasons, the wife went wide across the double-sided line and hit a truck that was southbound on Kamehameha Highway," said Lt. Robert Towne of HPD's Traffic Division.
