Pearl City crash victim identified as 22-year-old Waialua man

Police confirmed the 21-year-old driver of the Honda Accord was traveling down Kuala Street and hit a traffic signal pole.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man killed in the car crash Thursday morning as 22-year-old Nico Ballesteros of Waialua.

Police confirmed the 21-year-old driver of the Honda Accord was traveling down Kuala Street and hit a traffic signal pole. He was transported to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition while his 22-year-old passenger is in critical condition. Police plan to arrest the driver for allegedly driving under the influence and without a license.

HPD opened a negligent injury case following the incident.

The intersection of Kuala Street and Acacia Road has been reopened.

Honolulu police have closed Kuala Street and Acacia Road near Walmart to investigate a vehicle accident that happened on Thursday.

One person is in critical condition and one person in serious condition after the accident happened at around 4:30 a.m., according to police.
