During the accident Dupont and Henshaw were thrown from the motorcycle and were taken to Kona Community Hospital.
Rick Dupont, 47, of Kailua-Kona and Sean Henshaw, 47, of Ocean View died in a three-vehicle collision Saturday evening on Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway near the 94-mile marker. The were riding a motorcycle when they were struck by a car driven by 23-year-old Rebecca Vetter of Honolulu, was driving south on the highway when she crossed left of center and side-swiped a vehicle heading north and the motorcycle, also heading north. During the accident Dupont and Henshaw were thrown from the motorcycle and were taken to Kona Community Hospital. The two were pronounced dead around midnight. The driver of the third vehicle, a 60-year-old Kamuela woman, refused treatment and was released by paramedics at the scene. Vetter was arrested on suspicion of first-degree negligent homicide then released pending further investigation.
