One killed in vehicle vs. train crash in Kuna

KUNA - One person is dead after a vehicle was hit by a train in Kuna on Monday afternoon, the Ada County Sheriff's Office said. The sheriff's office said a train collided with a vehicle at the Black Cat Road crossing. The train was stopped while deputies investigated, the sheriff's office said. Ada County dispatchers said the call came in at around 3:15 p.m. The sheriff's office said the Union Pacific train was heading west when it collided with the vehicle, which was heading south south across the tracks. The train wasn't derailed, dispatch said.

19-year-old train crash victim was studying to become a doctor

The sheriff's office says the Union Pacific train was travelling more than 55 miles an hour when the collision occurred. The Ada County Sheriff's Office and railroad officials are now trying to figure out what caused the accident. The sheriff's office says the crossing is marked by a stop sign, and that Francois failed to stop. The Kuna School District posted a statement on Facebook: "We are saddened to hear of the loss of our 2014 Valedictorian, Peter Francois. "When I told her about his passing today all she said was, 'oh no, oh no, what will I do now?
