A Post Falls man died Thursday morning in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 95 south of Sandpoint.

A Post Falls man died Thursday morning in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 95 south of Sandpoint. Darrel C. Kirking, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene. Barbara A. Farrington, 70, of Thompson Falls, Mont., was headed south on Highway 95 around 7:30 a.m. when her 2003 Ford Focus crossed into the northbound lane and collided with Kirking’s 1999 Ford Escort. Kirking was wearing a seat belt. Farrington, who was not wearing a seat belt, was injured and taken to Kootenai Medical Center. The crash is under investigation.
