Two killed in three vehicle HWY 95 crash near Sandpoint

SANDPOINT, Idaho '€“ The Sandpoint Police Department is investigating a collision that happened on Highway 95 near mile marker 483 on Friday that killed two people. Police said the other passenger Jianxue Zhou, 52, was transported to Kootenai Health then to Sacred Heart where he died. That dump truck then slid into Bowlby's vehicle and both came to a rest on the east shoulder of the road, according to police. Police said Zhou was transported to Bonner General and later to Kootenai Health to be treated for her injuries. One of Zhou's passengers Ling Yuan, 50, was transported to Kootenai Health where she was pronounced dead, according to reports.
A fatal crash happened when a driver tried to pass a semi truck, and collided with a dump truck just before 12:30 p.m. Friday. Yun Zhou, 27, from Seattle, was driving a 2014 Ford Focus with two passengers southbound on Highway 95 when she tried to pass a southbound semi truck. Jennifer R. Bowlby, 28, of Bonners Ferry, was driving northbound and veered to avoid being struck by Zhou. Zhou then hit a dump truck driven by Harley L. Lippert, 39, of Sandpoint. That dump truck then collided with Bowlby's vehicle.
