Two injured, one killed in two-vehicle Illinois accident on Thursday

Illinois State Police have released information in regards to a fatal accident on Thursday afternoon around 4:45 p.m.

On Thursday afternoon, Joseph E. Veech of Effingham was driving a silver 1999 Oldsmobile southeast on Route 33 when the vehicle crossed the center turn lane into oncoming traffic. It collided head-on with a white 1998 Buick driven by Karen S. Kull of Strasburg.. Veech’s vehicle caught fire, and he was pronounced dead at the scence. A passenger in one of the vehicles was brought first to St. Anthony’s Hospital and later transferred to Carle Hospital, while Kull was flown to Carle Hospital.
