Woman hit by car in Aurora dies; Randall Road reopens.
A woman died Thursday morning after she was hit by a car in west suburban Aurora.
The 56-year-old woman was walking northbound in the street on Randall Road just south of Sullivan Road about 4:15 a.m. when she was hit by a northbound 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by a 65-year-old woman, a city spokesman said in a statement.
The 56-year-old was taken to a west suburban hospital, where she died during surgery, Ferrelli said, adding that she suffered "massive injuries" as a result of the crash.
The woman's name was not released pending notification of family, officals said. An autopsy will be performed.
Ferrelli said it didn't appear at the scene that drugs or alcohol were involved. No tickets have been issued pending the outcome of the investigation.
Randall Road between Sullivan and Indian Trail roads was closed for about three hours while police investigated the crash, but is reopen as of 8 a.m., Ferrelli said.
