Man dies after losing arm in South Chicago car accident

The driver’s front seat passenger, a 44-year-old man, suffered a severed arm and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, according to police. The man was pronounced dead at 6:09 p.m. at Christ, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

It wasn’t the first time Montgomery took a life when he allegedly got behind the wheel intoxicated, Molesky said at the 37-year-old’s bond hearing Tuesday.
The accident happened at 1 p.m. on the 8200 block of South South Chicago Avenue. The vehicle struck a light pole and subsequently collided into a parked car. Montgomery, the driver, was taken to Stroger in serious condition and was possibly intoxicated. Bonds, the driver’s front seat passenger, suffered a severed arm and was sent to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 6:09 p.m. at Christ, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday, according to the office. Montgomery has been charged with DUI.
