$500K bond for man charged in crash that killed pedestrian on West Side
On Sunday, Clemons was ordered held on a $500,000 bond, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Harry Clemons, 35, has been charged with aggravated DUI involving a death, aggravated DUI resulting in bodily harm, failure to reduce speed, failure to exercise due care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving on a revoked license. About 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Clemons was driving a Cadillac Seville on South Pulaski when his car first hit a pedestrian, and then several parked cars. The pedestrian, 41-year-old Andrew Smith, was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. A 44-year-old man who was a passenger in the Seville sustained leg and internal injuries. He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital. A 35-year-old female passenger was taken to Stroger Hospital. Clemons sustained head injuries and was transported in serious condition to Stroger Hospital.
