Elizabeth Peralta-Luna, 30, was walking hand-in-hand with her two children – 9-year-old Elizabeth and 4-year-old Dylan – in the 4300 block of South Ashland Avenue on Friday, when a truck making a left turn hit all three of them.

Known as “Eli” to her friends, Peralta-Luna, a 30-year-old Mexican immigrant, was remembered by her close friends as a joyful spirit, a hard worker, and a loving single mother who sought to provide a brighter future for her two children, Elizabeth, 9, and Dylan, 4.
Lawsuit filed against semi driver in accident that killed woman, 2 kids
The suit, filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court, named the driver of the truck, Zachary Barngrover, 23, of Iowa, along with his employer, Monson and Sons Inc., which is based in Britt, Iowa, according to the company's website. The company could not be reached for comment Monday night.
Elizabeth Peralta-Luna was crossing a street with her two children, Elizabeth and Dylan, when a semi-truck driven by 23-year-old Zachary Barngrover hit them, killing all thee. Barngrover was making a left turn on a green light and apparently did not see Peralta-Luna and her family. He was also allegedly using a cellphone during the time of the accident.
