Gov. Rauner's Motorcade Involved in Crash, ISP Trooper Injured
Weather was believed to be a factor in the accident, officials said. This is the second crash involving Rauner's motorcade this year. In January, his motorcade was involved in a four-vehicle crash in downtown Chicago.
At around 8:15 a.m., the Illinois State Police Executive Protection Unit officers were involved in a routine movement of Governer Rauner when one of the vehicles in the motorcade was involved in a traffic accident. One of the tail vehicles lost control and struck the rear axle of a semi-trailer. The trooper traveling in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital and was treated and released. The governor's vehicle was not involved in the crash.
