Treantefeles said there are no lights in that area, and no crosswalk – just a single lane in each direction of Central.

A 31-year-old woman walking along Central Road was struck and killed by a vehicle in northwest suburban Des Plaines.

Des Plaines police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run crash

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (847) 391-5400.

Shortly before 4:00 a.m., a dead body was found lying on the side of Central Road, where no lights or sidewalks are present. The deceased person has been identified as Vanessa Colon, 31, and though no one witnessed the incident, investigation shows that she was the victim of a hit-and-run collision. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who can offer any information is encouraged to contact local police.

Whoever did this need to come forth, a life was taken. Vanessa has two children, one who is my grandson,now left without a father and no mother. Please come forth. Love you Bird R.I.H

MAMA COLON(THAT'S WHAT I DO WITH ALL MOTHER'S OF PPL I KNOW) I KNOW IT S DOWN BELOW BUT I WANTED TO GIVE DIRECT CONDOLENCES....  I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT YOU OR HER CHILDREN ARE GOING THROUGH. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AS WELL AS HER LIL ONES. THE POLICE WILL FIND THE PERSON. THERE IS TOO MUCH TECHNOLOGY OUT THERE FOR THEM NOT TO FIND THE PERSON. PRAYER REALLY DOES WORK AND I AM GOING TO PRAY EVERYDAY UNTIL HER KILLER IS BROUGHT TO JUSTICE. THIS ALMOST SEEMS UNREAL, THIS HAPPENING TO SOMEONE SO CLOSE TO HOME. I WATCH THE FIRST 48 AND COLD CASE FILES ALL THE TIME I SEE THIS TYPE OF SITUATION IN MORE RURAL AREAS AND THE PERP IS FOUND. How could you just run a person over take their life and just leave them there like and animal to died,how can you live with your self.do the rght thing turn yourself in.

I'M ACTUALLY STUNNED AS TO HOW I HADNT HEARD OF A DEAR FRIEND'S PASSING THAT TOOK PLACE RIGHT DOWN THE STREET FROM OUR COMPLEX. WHOM EVER DID THIS YOU WILL PAY AND YOU WILL ANSWER FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE. YOU TOOK A YOUNG WOMAN FROM HER CHILDREN 3DAYS AFTER MOTHER'S DAY. AND FOR WHAT BECAUSE YOU'RE A COWARD.
