St. Charles pedestrian dies after struck by car in Elgin

It appears the victim was walking south on Route 31 past Route 20, and was possibly crossing the road, Cmdr. Charles man was pronounced dead at Presence St. The 46-year-old man was walking in the roadway when he was struck at about 5:25 a.m. by a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 54-year-old Elgin man who was traveling south on Route 31 near Route 20, according to the preliminary investigation.
