Alcohol A Factor In Fatal Wrong-Way Crash On Eisenhower

The wrong-way driver was charged with DUI and additional charges were pending against him, Illinois State Police said. 
A man died and five other people were injured in an alcohol-related wrong-way collision early Sunday morning on the Eisenhower Expressway near Forest Park. A wrong-way driver’s van and two other vehicles collided at 4:40 a.m. on I-290 at the Des Plaines exit. A passenger in the van, Juan Carlos Salazar, 29, was pronounced deceased at the crash site. Five others were injured, including the wrong-way driver, and are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
