New Lenox man dies following hit-and-run crash

A New Lenox motorcyclist has died from injuries he sustained in a hit-and-run accident in downtown Lockport on Monday night, the Will County Coroner's Office said.

Robert Haag had a heart of gold and even in his passing, in true "Bob" fashion he donated his organs in order to save others lives. A 46 yr old man received his heart and a kidney, a 58 yr old man received a kidney and his pancreas, and a 12 yr old little girl received his liver. His children will grow up knowing what a true hero their Daddy was all the way to the end, but they will not have their Daddy next to them for all their milestones in life. He will not be there to tuck them in at night or hold them when they are scared or sad and this thought leaves me in tears. I am at a loss, the only thing I can think of is to try and make sure they have everything else they need while they carry on through their journey, one less worry for these two precious souls is one more comfort for them, and the only way I can think to honor Bob right now is to help take care of his beautiful babies.

Robert F. Haag, 35, was pronounced dead Tuesday after he was hit by a car at the intersection of State and Eighth streets. Haag was traveling northbound on State Street when a southbound car turned in front of him. Haag possibly collided with the rear passenger side of the car, which is described as a light-colored, four-door sedan driven by a middle-aged man with dark hair, witnesses told authorities. Lockport investigators are seeking the public's help in finding the driver. Anyone with information is asked to call 815-838-2132.

Thank you so much for posting the GoFundMe link, Mia -- I've added it to the accident page. If there are any other fundraising efforts or funeral information you'd like us to add, please feel free to send it along. We always try to add fundraisers to accidents reports whenever possible, but they can be difficult to find. We're so sorry for your loss.  Jane Lindelof, Accident Data Center staff
