Two Lanes of Tri-State Closed After Semi Spills Load in Crash

Two lanes of the Tri-State Tollway are closed Friday afternoon near northwest suburban Park Ridge after a semi truck crashed and spilled part of its load. The crash happened about 2:05 p.m. on the tollway (I-294) between Devon and Touhy, according to Illinois State Police. The semi struck the outer left wall, causing the trailer to rupture and spill some of its contents onto the left shoulder, police said. The driver, a Chicago man, was following too closely, according to police, and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for a minor injury. The left lanes both northbound and southbound are closed as crews clean up and investigate the crash.
