An autopsy on Thursday revealed alcohol was a factor in a crash that killed a father and a 7-year-old girl when their SUV drove through a set of railroad crossing gates, and was hit by a Metra train.

A Round Lake Beach man and his daughter were killed Wednesday evening when their vehicle was struck by a Metra train on Route 134 in Round Lake Park, authorities said.
A girl identified as Alyssa Carranza 7, was found dead in a snowbank hours after a car was hit by a Metra train. A man, Francisco Carranza 36, believed to be her father, was also killed in the crash.
Milwaukee District North Metra train No. 2129 struck a vehicle Wednesday night in far north suburban Round Lake Park near Route 134 and Porter Drive. The man's body was found in the car. Hours later, the girl's body was discovered in a snowbank. Lake County authorities say they believe the girl was thrown from the vehicle.
A Metra spokesperson says the vehicle may have gone around crossing gates. The train was traveling at 60 mph.
Autopsies were being performed Thursday.
