Gavin Flynn and Ryan Reed, both 18, killed in pedestrian collision on Illinois Route 13 in Carbondale, Illinois

The pedestrians were identified Monday as Gavin Flynn and Ryan Reed of Carbondale. They were struck about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night on a stretch of Illinois Route 13 that’s also known as East Main Street. Reed died at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Flynn was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale on Sunday.
