Police asking for help with a fatal bicycle crash

Adams County Sheriff'€™s deputies responded to Highway 24 and Spring Lake around 4:30 this morning for a crash involving a man on a bicycle. At this time, the investigation is ongoing by the Adams County Sheriff'€™s Office and the Illinois State Police. Highway 24 is still closed from the North 24th Junction to the crash scene. ADAMS COUNTY, ILL -- Trooper Mike Kindhart with the Illinois State Police has confirmed with KHQA a man is dead after being struck on his bicycle by a car. At 12:15 Adams County James Keller confirmed he was still on location with the scene being reconstructed.

QUINCY '€“ Authorities in western Illinois investigating the suspected hit-and-run death of a bicyclist have arrested a 21-year-old Camp Point man. No phone listing was found for Walker and he could not be reached for comment at the Adams County Jail where he is in custody. The (Quincy) Herald-Whig reported 62-year-old Michael L. Pulliam of Quincy died after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle early Saturday. The Adams County Sheriff'€™s Department said deputies located an abandoned, damaged vehicle and later arrested Colton J. Walker on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death. Pulliam was taken to a hospital with major injuries and pronounced dead.

Camp Point man accused of deadly hit-and-run to have new judge

The Camp Point man accused of a deadly hit-and-run involving a bicyclist will have a new judge. Judge Robert Adrian granted the motion Wednesday afternoon for 21-year-old Colton Walker. The case will go to a chief judge for reassignment. Walker was arrested in June after police say he left his vehicle on the side of the road after hitting and killing a Michael Pulliam, 62, of Quincy, near Highway 24 and Spring Lake Road. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death, a class 1 felony.  

Local bicycling community reacts to fatal hit-and-run

Jim Robesky rode past US 24 and Spring Lake Road around 5:30 Saturday morning, nearly an hour after state police say 21-year-old Colton Walker of Camp Point struck and killed 62-year-old Michael Pulliam while he was riding his bike.

Driver accused in fatal hit and run has history of speeding

Walker’s bond in this fatal hit and run was set at $50,000 and has since been paid. Walker will be back in court on July 6th at 10 a.m.
