Motorcyclist injured in semi truck accident in Rockford

ROCKFORD — A motorcyclist is in guarded condition after he was struck Tuesday afternoon by a semi truck at Sandy Hollow Road and Merchandise Drive. The intersection has been shut down while Rockford police investigate. The accident was reported about 3:40 p.m. Police and firefighters arrived to find the motorcyclist conscious and lying on the ground next to the semi. A preliminary investigation by police shows the semi truck was traveling east on Sandy Hollow Road and was turning right onto Merchandise Drive when the motorcyclist, who was eastbound in the curb lane, drove into the semi.
