Shortly before 11:40pm, Heise was heading south on State Road 49, and entered the northbound lane in an attempt to pass cars that were in front of him. Unfortunately, Heise was unable to pass them and return to the lane before he collided with a northbound vehicle driven by Schneider. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but police believe that excessive speed was a factor.
