Drunk driver sentenced after 3 killed in crash

A man who pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated resulting in the death of three people will spend the next 30 years in prison. Anthony Dager was driving on State Road 1 at 4:40 a.m. April 4 when he crossed the center line and hit a vehicle head-on. In June he pleaded guilty to three counts of causing death while operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. His blood alcohol level was more than 0.15.

A 26-year-old New Haven man accused of killing three people in a crash early Saturday faces six felony charges related to their deaths.

3 died after Wells County crash

The driver, Rebecca R. Prentice, of Ossian, and the front seat passenger, Paul E. Penrod, 64, of Bluffton were pronounced dead on the scene. The back seat passenger, Karen S. Smith, 65, of Bluffton, was flown to Lutheran Hospital by Lutheran Air Helicopter where she later died from her injuries. Prentices age was not yet reported.

Anthony Dager was driving on Ind. 1 at around 4:45 a.m. when he struck another vehicle, killing the three occupants inside. Dager was allegedly drunk, driving erratically, and using a cellphone at the time of the crash. He told deputies that he had been driving on a different road when they arrived at the scene, and his blood alcohol content was found to be more than twice the legal limit. His bond was set at $100,000. Two of the people in the other car were headed to the airport to go on vacation in Hawaii.
