The crash was under investigation by the Putnam’s County Sheriff’s Department.

Shaw and his passenger, 72-year-old Jo. A Shaw, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

At around 12:40pm, a Pontiac Grand Am containing Sullivan and Vanatti was losing control on a curve of County Road 400 West, went into the oncoming lane and was struck by a van containing Gordon and Jo A. Shaw. Sullivan and Vanatti were declared dead at the scene of the accident, while the Shaw's sustained only minor injuries.
