A motorcyclist was killed in a crash late Sunday on the city’s Near Northside.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash late Sunday on the city’s Near Northside.

John Moore, 31, Indianapolis, died from injuries sustained after his Yamaha dirtbike slid into a 2002 black Chevy Malibu at the intersection of North 30th Street and Ralston Avenue, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report.

Police were called at about 9 p.m. to the intersection, according to the IMPD report.

The driver of the Malibu was not injured, police said. Following standard procedure, a blood draw was taken from the driver of the Malibu at Eskenazi Hospital, police said.

Moore’s bike did not have a headlight on it, police said. Witnesses told police the dirtbike was traveling at a high rate of speed, police said.

IMPD’s Fatal Alcohol Crash Team continued to investigate the crash.
