A fatal car accident occurred on Indianapolis’ west side early Saturday morning.

Neither the driver nor her front-seat passenger were wearing seat belts, he said, and they were both ejected from the vehicle.

Lorenda Sue Wampler, 49, and Jonie Faye Johnson-Milan, 46, were pronounced dead at the scene, Indiana State Police Sgt. Rich Myers said. It was unclear who was driving.
At about 6:59 a.m. Saturday morning, Indiana State Police and Indianapolis Fire Department were called to the scene of a crash. Police saw a vehicle on the southbound on-ramp of I-465 and West Washington Street when they arrived. Authorities state the driver of the car appeared to be distracted and driving on the shoulder of Washington St., when the car hit the guard rail. Police state the car immediately started spinning when it entered the on-ramp of I-465 south. It was at this time that the car then hit a second guard rail, ejecting both the driver and the passenger. The car finally came to a stop after sliding for another 50 feet. Both the driver and the passenger were killed in the accident. Check back for details on this accident as they emerge.
