Indiana man killed when car goes into pond.

A Ramsey, Ind., man died Saturday after his vehicle left a road and went into a pond in Crawford County.

"The water was approximately 39 degrees so very cold, very dark conditions," said Schreck. "So it was a job getting to him and getting him out of the water."

John Vausha, 62, was driving on Ind. 64 about 6:45 p.m. when a witness saw his vehicle leave the road. The vehicle traveled 500 feet before landing in a pond. Officials are unsure what caused Vausha to drive off the road. Crawford County firefighters pulled Vausha from his car, but the man was unresponsive. Vausha was flown to Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, where he was pronounced dead.
