Former Elkhart County Sheriff's deputy killed Saturday in C.R. 6 and Emerson crash

Webb worked at the sheriff’s department from 1978 to 2006 where “he held many roles that included Jail Captain, Jail Sergeant, Corrections Officer, and Patrol Officer,” according to a news release from department spokesman Capt. Jim Bradberry. After Webb retired about nine years ago, he continued to work with the department as a corrections officer. 
Gerald “Jerry” C. Webb, 61, died in an Elkhart motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon, April 18. He was a 37-year veteran of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.  He was westbound on a motorcycle with one passenger when the vehicle crashed with a car at the intersection of C.R. 6 and Emerson Drive in Elkhart. Webb was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The passenger was transported to Memorial Hospital of South Bend with serious injuries. The two people in the car were not hurt.

Did they have helments on?....this is such a tragedy and it scares me every time we get on our bike...I am so very sorry for the loss...
