4 reported hurt in crash after northern Indiana police chase

South Bend television stations report emergency crews needed nearly an hour to free all four people from the car’s wreckage. They all were taken to a hospital but information on their injuries wasn’t immediately available.

Osceola crash leaves 1 dead after police chase

Mario Beristain, a 17-year-old South Bend resident, was pronounced dead after he was taken to Memorial Hospital, authorities said. St. Joseph County Coroner Randy Magdalinski said an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
Northern Indiana police have reported a car chase that left one dead and three people injured. The pursuit began in Elkhart after a reported theft at an RV factory and ended near Osceola in St. Joseph County, where the vehicle hit a tree. Those in the vehicle were taken to the local hospital. The man who was killed is believed to have died from blunt force trauma. His name has not yet been released.
