A woman was killed and two children riding with her were injured in a crash on I-70 in Vigo County Friday.

The woman was traveling west on the freewaqy when she rear-ended a tractor-trailer. That truck subsequently crashed into the rear of another tractor trailer. Investigators say there is no evidence the woman braked before the crash. The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. She is believed to be the mother of at least one of the two children - a 13-year-old boy and an infant girl. The boy was transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health with leg and internal injuries. The girl, who is about a year old, was in a car seat and suffered internal injuries. She was taken to Union Hospital in Terre Haute. The driver of the first tractor-trailer struck, 57-year-old Michael Williams of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital with an arm injury. The driver of the second semi, 32-year-old Jose Resendiz-Rodriguez of Texas, was not injured. Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
