UPDATE: Crash victim identified as Mount Mercy University graduate, basketball player

Carrington was a former Mount Mercy University student-athlete. He graduated from the University in 2013 with a degree in marketing. Carrington played basketball at Mount Mercy and was most recently a member of the Cedar Valley CourtKings, a semi-pro team in the Midwest Basketball League.

The Iowa State Patrol says 26-year-old Rashad Carrington of Cedar Rapids was driving northbound on the interstate around 3 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and landed in a ditch near the Highway 965 overpass.
