Motorcyclist dies after sideswiping car in stormy weather
The crash happened Saturday night near mile marker 249 when a vehicle pulled onto the shoulder of the highway because of stormy weather. According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, motorcyclist George Taylor, 70, of La Moille, Illinois, tried to pull over due to slow traffic. Taylor sideswiped the stopped vehicle and was thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where he later died of his injuries. Taylor was not wearing his helmet properly, according to the report.
