Woman, 85, dies in 3-vehicle crash
An 85-year-old woman was killed Tuesday in a three-vehicle crash in south-central Kansas, authorities said.
The accident occurred at 8:05 a.m. on K-14 highway, about eight miles south of Hutchinson.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was westbound on Arlington Road, failed to yield at the stop sign at K-14 highway and pulled in front of 2001 Ford Explorer, which was southbound on K-14.
After the Chevroleet and Ford collided, the Ford then struck a Ford F-350 pickup truck that was stopped at the stop sign on eastbound Arlington Road.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, Ollie R. Richey, was taken to an area hospital, where she died. The patrol said she was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Chevrolet, James F. Richey, 92, suffered disabling injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The patrol said he was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Explorer, identified as Brooksie L. Conroy, 30, of McPherson, was reported injured in the crash, though there was no record of her being hospitalized. She, too, was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Ford pickup truck, Neill J. Unruh, 63, of Haviland, was reported uninjured. He, too, was wearing a seat belt.
