Mitchell County crash kills 93-year-old Beloit woman

The Kansas Highway Patrol said Lola R. Hillman was westbound on U.S. 24 in a 2002 GMC truck when she crossed the center line and struck a trailer being pulled by another truck. After the collision, Hillman’s truck stopped in the westbound lane, KHP said. The other truck pulled over; its trailer detached and landed on the road’s south shoulder.
A 93-year-old Beloit woman is dead after two pickup trucks crashed Friday in Mitchell County. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Lola R. Hillman was westbound on U.S. 24 in a 2002 GMC truck when she crossed the center line and struck a trailer being pulled by another truck. After the collision, Hillman’s truck stopped in the westbound lane, KHP said. The other truck pulled over; its trailer detached and landed on the road’s south shoulder. Hillman was taken to Salina Regional Health Center, where she died, KHP said. The driver of the truck pulling the trailer, a 47-year-old Kensington man, was not hurt, KHP said. The crash happened at 12:55 p.m. about four miles west of Glen Elder, which is north and slightly west of Salina.
