A motorist from Jefferson died Monday night from injuries he received in a three-pickup-truck crash on Louisiana 25 near Folsom, authorities said. A driver from Mount Hermon was booked with vehicular homicide, DWI and improper lane usage. The victim was identified by State Police as Gary White, 66. He died at LSU Interim Public Hospital in New Orleans. The other drivers were not injured, police said. White was driving a Nissan pickup southbound on Louisiana 25 at about 2:30 p.m. when a northbound pickup driven by James Albury, 76, of Mount Hermon, crossed the center line, said Trooper Greg Marchand, spokesman for State Police Troop L. White swerved in an attempt to avoid the crash but the two trucks collided head-on, he said. Albury's truck overturned and came to rest on the highway, while White's Nissan ran off the right side of the road and hit a fence, Marchand said. A third pickup, driven southbound by Robert Ables, 53, of Foley, Ala., ran off the road to avoid the disabled truck and sideswiped White's Nissan, according to Marchand. All of the drivers were wearing seat belts, police said. Albury apparently was impaired by alcohol and narcotic use at the time of the crash, Marchand said. A urine sample was taken for toxicological analysis. Albury was booked at the St. Tammany Parish jail in Covington. Alcohol was not a factor on White's nor Ables' part, Marchand said.
