Arkansas woman dies in head-on crash on I-55 in Hammond

Spears' Toyota Avalon crossed the median and into the southbound lanes of I-55, crashing head-on into a Kia Optima driven by Charles Williams, Dwight said. An Arkansas woman died and her husband critically injured Friday night (Jan. 15) in a head-on collision on Interstate 55 in Hammond, State Police said. Charles Williams, 64, was in critical condition at North Oaks Medical Center. Spears received moderate injuries and was taken to North Oaks, police said. The crash remains under investigation and any charges will be referred to the Tangipahoa Parish District Attorney's Office for review, State Police said.
