Rickey Hooper killed in single car crash in Plaquemines Parish.

A Harvey man was killed in a one-car accident in Plaquemines Parish on Thursday afternoon (Dec. 12), Louisiana State Police reported.

Rickey Hooper, 55, apparently ran off the road on Louisiana 39 and overturned in a wooded area about 55 feet from the highway, State Police said. Troopers were notified of the crash about 2:50 p.m., and discovered Hooper dead inside his 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, a State Police spokeswoman said. He was wearing a seat belt, and he was alone in the car, she said.

She said it's not known when the crash occurred; however, Hooper was last seen on Dec. 3.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers do believe speed was a factor in the crash. A toxicology test is pending an autopsy.
