A parolee was arrested Thursday after police in Kenner said he stole a car and led police on a high-speed chase through LaPlace.
The incident began about 7:15 a.m. in the 3200 block of Ole Miss Drive in Kenner.
The owner of a red 2007 Toyota Camry reported that his car had just been stolen as he was letting the car warm up in the driveway, police said.
Shortly after the car was reported stolen, officers saw the car on I-10 West at Loyola Drive.
The driver, who police identified as 22-year-old Antoine Reid, refused to pull over when prompted by officers in pursuit.
The chase ended on I-10 West near Belle Terre after Reid crashed the vehicle into the ditch at mile marker 206 in LaPlace.
Reid attempted to flee but was apprehended by a police K-9 officer, police said.
