Victim identified in fatal, single-vehicle accident near Pearl River

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office on Monday (Jan. 12) released the name of a motorist who died Sunday night in a single-vehicle accident north of Pearl River. 
Dennis W. Swedberg Jr. of Pearl River was driving a Dodge pickup truck north on Archie Singletary Road near West Ridgewood Drive at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday when the vehicle ran off the road in a curve. After striking a culvert, the pickup vaulted, ejecting Swedberg before landing back on the roadway. Speed appears to have been a factor in the accident, and Swedberg apparently was not wearing a seat belt, the Sheriff's Office said. Responders from St. Tammany Parish's Fire District 7 and Acadian Ambulance personnel performed lifesaving efforts at the scene but were unable to resuscitate the man, according to the Sheriff's Office.
