Person dies in head-on crash in Embden.

A woman was killed and three other people were seriously hurt in a head-on crash in Embden late Thursday afternoon. It happened a little after 4:30 p.m. on Route 16, which stretches from Anson to Kingfield.

Police say a second person involved in a head-on crash in Embden last week has died.

A woman was killed and three other people were seriously hurt in a head-on crash in Embden late Thursday afternoon. It happened a little after 4:30 p.m. on Route 16, which stretches from Anson to Kingfield.

Deputies said a Chevy Malibu was passing another car when it slammed into a Subaru going the other way. Jennifer Nile of Embden was a passenger in the Malibu and the crash killed her.

The driver of that car, Mark Schobel, of north Anson, and two people in the Subaru, Leon and Ruth Souweine of Bangor, were taken to hospitals with multiple injuries. Speed has been ruled a factor in the
accident.

UPDATE: Ruth Souweine died from her injuries on Sunday. 03/04/14.
