Canaan man killed in northern Franklin County crash

A Canaan man died and a Mercer man was injured Sunday afternoon when the vehicle they were riding in rolled over into a bunch of small alders on Beaudry Road in Kibby Township, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said in a release Monday. Neither Swain or Moorehead were seat belted, which caused Swain's head to strike the vehicle as it rolled over, the release states. '€œSpeed and alcohol are considered factors in this crash,'€ Nichols said.

Speed, alcohol likely factors in fatal Franklin County crash

EUSTIS, Maine '€” A Canaan man was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle rollover on Gold Brook Road in Franklin County, according to Sheriff Scott Nichols. Swain suffered major head trauma and died while en route to a LifeFlight helicopter, the sheriff said. Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash. Initial investigation indicates Swain may have been traveling at an unsafe speed along the dirt road, and he was heading towards Route 27, Nichols said. Marc Swain, 21, apparently lost control of his Ford Explorer and rolled over into a bunch of small trees around 2 p.m., Nichols said.
