Douglas Parkhurst, 68, killed when struck by vehicle driven by Carol Sharrow, 51, on baseball field in Sanford, Maine
A man was killed at Goodall Park, where a baseball game was happening, by a woman who -- at one point -- drove her car on the field, police said.
Police say Douglas Parkhurst, a 68-year-old Vietnam veteran, was hit by the car as he pushed kids out of harm’s way.
He and another man then tried to keep the driver from leaving the scene by blocking a gate.
A Maine woman accused of driving onto a baseball field and hitting and killing a man is facing more than a dozen charges including manslaughter and aggravated assault.
Carol Sharrow appeared in court Friday and entered a plea of not criminally responsible. A grand jury returned an indictment including manslaughter and aggravated assault against the Sanford woman in October.
Carol Sharrow of Sanford, who pleaded not guilty and not criminally responsible in the death of Douglas Parkhurst, may be seeking to change her plea.
